Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Leslie Jafarace L.Ac. Acupuncture Works

I have never had a new patient say, “I love needles!” Americans are generally conditioned to trauma involved by hypodermics. This is rather unfortunate. Acupuncture has been helping people just like you for thousands of years. It is safe, effective, and can treat chronic health conditions that typically don't respond well to conventional treatments.

In my clinical practice, I have been able to treat a wide variety of patients from children to seniors. All who were afraid of being stuck, By the end of the treatment, they were all pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and relaxing the treatment actually was.

Typically when you think of needles. scary images of a giant hypodermic appears in our minds. When most people see the acupuncture needles for the first time they start to laugh at their own fears. The needles are very fine and very thin. Actually they are about 1/8 of a human hair! That's pretty tiny.

So, lets talk about Acupuncture Needles!

  • Single Use

  • Sterile

  • Stainless Steel

  • FDA approved Medical Device

Typical sensation after insertion, usually is no more than a mosquito bite and lasts only a few seconds. One may then get a sensation of warmth or heaviness that is the appropriate “qi” sensation. This means the needle is working.

If you or someone you know needs help feeling better but has not wanted to try acupuncture because of the needles, I would encourage you to take a deep breathe and move past this fear and start experiencing all the healing benefits that acupuncture has to offer.
